Bên cạnh PHÂN TÍCH ĐỀ THI 30/5/2020 IELTS WRITING TASK 2 (kèm bài sửa HS đạt 6.5) của mình, hôm nay IELTS TUTOR hướng dẫn các em cách phân biệt cụ thể cách dùng của Journey, Travel, Trip và Voyage là những lỗi rất dễ sai, các em nên chú ý để phân biệt và viết cho đúng nhé!

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:

• Between school and university, she spent a year travelling, mostly in Africa and Asia.
• I travel to work by train. 
• He travelled over 1,000 miles to be at the wedding. 
• As a young man he had travelled (= been to many parts of) the world

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:

• The trip from York to Newcastle takes about an hour by train. 
• We're going on a trip to Norway this summer. 
• I thought we might hire a motorboat and take a trip round/around the bay
• We can't afford another trip abroad this year.
•  It's a ten-mile trip from the airport to the hotel. 
• She's away on a business trip and won't be back until next week. 
• Do you want to go on the school trip to France this year? 
• I was thinking we could go on a shopping trip to New York this weekend

• I love going on long journeys. 
• We broke our journey (= stopped for a short time) in Jacksonville before travelling on to Miami the next day. 
• Have a safe journey! 
• He views his life as a spiritual journey towards a greater understanding of his faith.
• Did you have a good journey?  
• It's a two-hour train journey from York to London.

• He was a young sailor on his first sea voyage. 
•  The first year of a loving relationship is a voyage (= period) of discovery.

• A journey is the process of travelling from one place to another by land, air, or sea (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Chỉ một chuyến đi một chiều từ nơi này đến nơi khác, thường là chuyến đi dài, mang nghĩa "hành trình"/Journey được sử dụng như là một ẩn dụ cho “quá trình” trong đời sống)
  • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: 
    •  ...a journey of over 2,000 miles. 
    • The nights became colder as they journeyed north. 
    • We did the journey to Wales in 5 hours. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Chúng tôi đã mất 5 giờ cho chuyến đi tới Wales).
    • My family have overcome a lot of troubles on our spiritual journey. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Gia đình tôi đã vượt qua rất nhiều khó khăn trong chặng đường tinh thần của mình).
  • A voyage is a very long journey from one place to another, usually by sea or through space (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Chỉ một chuyến hành trình rất dài, thường là bằng đường biển)
    • IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: 
      •  ...the voyage to the moon in 1972.
      • He was a young sailor on his first sea voyage. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Anh ấy là thủy thủ rất trẻ trong chuyến đi biển đầu tiên của mình) 
• A trip is the process of travelling from one place to another, staying there, usually for a short time, and coming back again (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Được dùng để chỉ những chuyến đi nhanh, ngắn)

    • ...a business trip to Milan. 
    • We took a four – day trip to New York. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Chúng tôi làm một chuyến đi 4 ngày tới New York)
• An excursion is a short trip made either as a tourist or in order to do a particular thing.

    • The tourist office organizes excursions to the palace of Knossos.
